My parents tried to transfer some money from Austria to Australia and the IBAN just wouldn’t work – unlike what Commbank says on their website.
We ended up trying it all – just the numbers as recommended for the IBAN and appending “AU” at the beginning (as we thought it might be Australia) – nothing worked.
What you need to do is transfer it to AN ACCOUNT and put in the BSB+Account Nr. but NOT INTO THE IBAN field – and that works 🙂
So do not use the IBAN – like in the picture (red box). Click to transfer to an Account (blue arrow).
once you click on Account – you will get a similar screen to this one:
and this is where you input your BSB+Account Number.
Let me know how you go!
How come this works for you?
What to do you mean by “what you need to do is transfer it to an account”?
And so the IBAN is the six-digit BSB number + the IBAN combined, so XXXXXXCTBAAU2S?

Yeah – worked for my parents. The money arrived yesterday.
They instead of selecting IBAN selected “Account Number” that’s where you input your BSB + Account Number.
I’ve edited the blog post with screenshots – so hope that makes sense now 🙂
